  • Avoiding Email congestion through China gateways: Affected by inter-country traffic slowness when retrieving email from China? Existing Webvisions hosting customers can now contact sales@webvisions.com for more details on how to enhance the performance for your China-based users. State the domain name of your hosting plan or your Webvisions customer ID for easy reference.

January 2005

  • 2nd-level ".sg" Domain Registrations Available: Register your 2nd-level ".sg" domain name (e.g. "apple.sg") at register.webvisions.com. The sole qualification required for registration is a Singapore mailing address.
  • Compulsory SMTP Authentication for Virtual Customers: With effect from 17 January 2005, SMTP Authentication will be compulsory for all Webvisions virtual services. Customers who are still using email gateways that are not compatible with SMTP Authentication are advised to immediately upgrade to an industry standard version that supports SMTP authentication.

    As part of our ongoing efforts to improve our service, Webvisions will be implementing a major upgrade to our Customer Management System this weekend. We hope this will enable us to better serve you. This upgrade will take place between 28 Jul 1300 hrs to 29 Jul.

Prepayment discounts for semi-annual (5%) and annual (10%) plans are in place. Customers will obtain the said discounts off their monthly recurring fees.

New Service - FOUNDRY LOAD BALANCING: Webvisions is pleased to launch managed load balancing services with Foundry Networks using Foundry Networks' ServerIron Internet Web Switches. Click for more details.

29 June 2000 (1000 SGT / 1100 EST)

Beginning Friday June 30th, 2000, we will be performing facilities maintenance at our Washington location. During this time, we will be upgrading our facilities to a new, modern, and state of the art UPS, HVAC, and generator. This will provide you with a more stable power solution, as well as superior backup power in case of any emergency.

This maintenance window will affect your server and virtual servers. Please note that maintenance to your server will be performed on June 29th and June 30th, between 11pm-7am EST or 10am - 6pm SGT.

BGP4 (Border Gateway Protocol) is available on all new servers that are hosted in our network, providing the following advantages to Webvisions customers:

1) BGP allows all our customers to enjoy any leased circuits that we posses. Because we have connections to both SingNet and Pacific Internet, Pacific Internet visitors to your web site will be able to access to your data within a hop and vice versa without having to route through another network.

2) Webvisions customers can leverage on its connectivity to Pacific Internet (100mbps), SingNet/STIX (10 mbps), Singapore One (45mbps), UUNet (x mbps) - end April. This allows access to over 40 countries in Asia. Webvisions will be investing substantial amounts in purchasing connectivity to future ISPs and International gateways.

3) BGP provides redundancy. If one Internet circuit dies, traffic will then be automatically routed over another link. This works for both incoming and outgoing traffic.

4) BGP provides load-balancing and allows the shaping traffic according to usage and traffic conditions.

PLEASE NOTE: Existing Webvisions customers need to renumber their server IPs (both IPs will be alive to prevent downtime). To initiate this renumbering process, please write to support@webvisions.com. Y ou will also be contacted by our support team to initiate this process.

A problem with a power DB unit caused intermittent downtime for 3 rack-rows for a period of thirty minutes. The problem has been rectified. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

Please note that from February 2000, Webvisions' budget range of virtual servers will be discontinued. Students or non-profit organisations will also be entitled to a discount range of 15-30% off all standard Webvisions hosting plans from February 2000.

Network upgrades from January 6 to January 7 in the time period of 12am - 3am (morning of Jan 7). This may result in intermittent disruptions. This event will affect only Singapore-based Webvisions servers.

Dec 99

We have installed a brand new customer service helpdesk system that logs and tracks all incoming customer requests and responses from the Webvisions sales and support team.

This system will enhance our service level and enable us to constantly track our progress in serving all Webvisions clients better. All emails sent to various departments will be allocated a tracking number. In order for us to cater to your needs quickl y, please quote the tracking number in any communications with any Webvisions staff.
